OK, I guess we're ready to leap!

I know it has been forever and a day, and I am sorry for that.  To give the quick update, work is going well.  I have heartachey, homesickness for my business, but the goals that we wanted to achieve by this choice, are being met.
However, I am still being challenged with my weight.  In 2011, I gained 30lbs in 1 year!  YIKES!!  I have also recently been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
One of my new co-workers is a Beachbody Coach (P90X, Insanity Workouts, Shakeology, etc).  She mentioned to me a few weeks ago, she was going to do a 21 day cleanse.  I was resistant.  Cleanse seems like a dirty word to me.  Not to mention, my desk at work is not near a bathroom.
However, I learned it is not that type of cleanse!  Basically in that 3 week time frame, I will cut out meat, dairy (so a vegan diet), alcohol, and caffeine. I will also be consuming a lot of supplements and 1 gallon of distilled water per day.  Even the carbs in this cleanse, are all with a low glycemic load.  Have I mentioned they recommend a low glycemic diet for people with insulin resistance (a metabolic syndrome associated with PCOS)? So really, this "cleanse" will reset my body, to not crave carbs, sugar, and to get me to a blank slate to start eating the way I *should* be eating.  From what I have seen, it will also give me a pop of weightloss, which I am hoping motivates me to become more involved in the care of myself.
So, as a working military spouse, with a wayward husband, the food prep can be alot.  So I took the time tonight, to make all the meal prep I needed to get me to Friday (I start the cleanse on Tuesday).  Take a gander at this fridge!!! It is loaded full of healthy food!

Here is a link about the Cleanse.

And here is a link for my coach, Chelsea, who is so passionate about this cleanse, health, and nutrition.  She really is inspiring.

Now before you pass out at the price.  Think about how much a cookbook and an intense trip to GNC would cost (I have no idea, I think Veganomicon is $21...and God knows how much decent suplements would cost).  Now, for me, I thought about....there will be no trips to Starbucks ($25 for 3 weeks), no eating out ($120 for a 3 week period).  So is it expensive, sure, yes, I'll admit that; but to me, it is replacing a lot of other things I could have done.  And, I am doing it with a group at work, so I feel a lot of support and accountability. And frankly, if I can lose 15lbs and start myself on the right track, then it is worth every dime.
I will keep you in the loop after every week, to tell you the God's honest truth.

  1. SUPER excited for you! And I can't wait to hear all about it. Just remember, if you get cranky, it's your body fighting back and you just have to push through. I'm proud of you for starting such a big challenge, but I'm positive you can do it!
